“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world…….” (Mark 8:36)
Elisha was passionate to have his master’s anointing in a double dimension while Gehazi pursued the ministry of garment and gold (II Kings 2:9b, II Kings 5:20-27). The truth of the matter is: whenever a man expose himself to the devil, even when you’re going down, you’ll believe you’re on the rise. Gehazi forgot that Prophets of God has peculiar dress codes and that the Babylonish garment as well as chains of gold and silver will one day give him up.
Elisha went all the way with his predecessor (Elijah). He was in Bethel, Jericho and Jordan with Prophet Elijah because he needed a “life-time” grace, which is equally referred to as God’s unction. He understood the benefits of positive fingers of God and went for it instead of outward, flamboyant show that is void of God’s presence. Elisha’s principle of ministry was anchored on Matt 6:33 which says: ‘But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you’. Today, many seek after – all these things instead of the owner of “things”.
You know the leopard by its skin; many believers cannot be differentiated from the world again because of what they say, wear and do. Whereas you were made to show forth the glory of God; but you have decided to copy and go whoring after the pattern of the “people of the land”. Prophet Elisha did extra-ordinarily in his lifetime and even after his death; Gehazi died as a leper and lost the potential of inheriting double portion of his master’s grace. He also lost the opportunity of putting on the ill-gotten,coveted garment, silver and gold.
Watch what you pursue in the ministry. It’s only a matter of time and the tares shall be separated from the wheat.
