‘Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing…..’ (Isaiah 43:18 – 19).
God in His infinite wisdom does not consult your past to determine your future because He knows that all your righteousness are like filthy rags in His sight (Isaiah 64:6).
-Have you considered the life of Mary Magdalene – a renowned call girl in the Bible? But her encounter with Jesus Christ brought out the hidden divine blessings in her. She became one of the last people to leave the cross and one of the first to discover and announce His resurrection (Matt 27:55 -61; 28:7).
-Apostle Peter was a very high-tempered individual up till the arrest of his Master; but thereafter, he had a divine encounter with the Holy Spirit. He preached his first message afterward and three thousand souls surrendered their lives to Christ (Acts 2:40-41). This number is enough to form a mega-church today.
-Jacob was a trickster and a deceiver; but God gave him an “extreme” makeover and changed his name to Israel – father of nations.
-Paul was a terrorist, killing and maiming Christians before his encounter with Christ. But killings Christians did not take him out of grace. He ended up writing over half of the New Testament. Aprons and handkerchiefs taken from his body were placed on the sick and they were healed (Acts 19:11-12).
-And we cannot finish this roll call without mentioning Zacchaeus, a well-known embezzler. He hosted Jesus Christ in his house and the encounter made him a philanthropist.
I don’t know what your past must have been, but it cannot be worse than couple of examples cited above. Now if God could do all that for “people with a past”, surely He can give you a new beginning too as you make a sincere U-Turn to Him!
