“For in Him we live, and move, and have our being …” (Acts 17: 28).
We have come to discover somewhere along the path of life that: rich men get disappointed in their treasures, educated and learned people are disappointed in their knowledge, husbands get disappointed in their wives and vice-versa, parents are disappointed in their children. But no man was ever disappointed in Christ.
The righteousness or good works of man cannot buy eternity or favour from God; it will take accepting the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross (Acts 4:12). The difference between a sinner and a regenerated man is Christ because his sins are washed away by the blood of Jesus and he is pardoned and released from the guiltiness of sin.
A life of sanctification will be easier to live when you permit Christ to help you. The power in His Words will remove the nature of sin from your heart layer by layer; and the cleaner you become (in your own eyes), the dirtier you are as you get closer to the pure God.
Do you desire to live holy? All you need is Christ (the Rock) from which you drink the living water. Be prepared to keep your sight on Him – looking at His cross, and learning afresh for a closer walk with Him. When you look at Him, you would become like Him (remember Moses on the mount). Look less at yourself and more at Christ, and you will find besetting sins dropping off and leaving you, and your eyes enlightened more and more every day (II Cor 3:18). Fame will fade away, the sun is bound to set according to the law of nature, the yore days will soon give way and old age will set in but Christ is indispensable in all seasons.
